A car leaving Switzerland needs an export customs declaration. Without it, VAT cannot be dropped or refunded and your own customs office may ask questions. We take care of the Swiss side.
What we handle
- Export customs declaration with the Swiss customs authority
- Cancelling the Swiss registration and returning the plates, when the seller has not already done so
- Temporary export plates and insurance when we drive the car
- VAT-free purchase or VAT refund with VAT-registered dealers
- Requesting a Certificate of Conformity (CoC) from the manufacturer when possible
What you will need at home
Every country has its own import and registration rules. In the EU, the car is cleared through customs and import VAT is due at your national rate; customs duty is usually 0% or 10% depending on the proof of origin. Before you buy, we tell you which documents we can provide and point out anything your registration office is likely to ask for.
