Switzerland has no sea port, so cars travel by truck to a European port first, usually in Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands or Germany, and are shipped from there.
Container or RoRo
In a container, the car is secured inside a closed steel box, sometimes with other cars to share the cost. On a RoRo (roll-on, roll-off) vessel, the car is driven on board like on a ferry. RoRo is often cheaper; a container gives more protection and lets you ship personal items in some cases.
At the port of arrival
Import customs at the destination port are handled by you or a local clearing agent. We send the bill of lading and all export documents in advance, so your agent can prepare the clearance before the ship arrives.
